Monis and Pervaiz Elahi Corruption


 



Pervaiz Ellahi and his son Monis Ellahi are a father-son duo who have been embroiled in several corruption scandals in Pakistan. Pervaiz Ellahi is a former Chief Minister of the Punjab province and a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) party. Monis Ellahi is a businessman and political figure who has been involved in various controversies.


The first scandal involving Pervaiz Ellahi and his son Monis Ellahi was related to land grabbing. In 2007, it was alleged that the Ellahi family had illegally acquired government land in Lahore worth billions of rupees. The land was allegedly used for commercial and residential purposes, and it was reported that the Ellahi family had used their political influence to grab the land. The case was investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), but no charges were ever filed against the Ellahi family.


Another scandal involving Pervaiz Ellahi and his son Monis Ellahi was related to money laundering. In 2010, the NAB launched an investigation into allegations that the Ellahi family had laundered millions of dollars through various businesses and offshore companies. The NAB claimed that the Ellahi family had used their political influence to evade taxes and launder money through various shell companies. The case was still under investigation, but no charges were ever filed against the Ellahi family.


In addition to these scandals, Monis Ellahi has also been involved in several controversies related to his business dealings. In 2011, it was reported that Monis Ellahi had been involved in a multi-billion rupee scam involving the import of substandard sugar. The scam was exposed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Monis Ellahi was arrested and charged with fraud and corruption. However, he was later released on bail and the case was still pending at the time of writing.


Another controversy involving Monis Ellahi was related to his involvement in the sugar and wheat crisis in Pakistan in 2020. The crisis was caused by the shortage of sugar and wheat in the country, which led to a sharp increase in prices. It was alleged that Monis Ellahi, along with other business tycoons, had hoarded sugar and wheat, causing the crisis. The FIA launched an investigation into the matter, but no charges were filed against Monis Ellahi.


Pervaiz Ellahi and his son Monis Ellahi have been involved in several corruption scandals and controversies over the years. However, despite the allegations and investigations, no charges have ever been filed against them. This raises questions about the effectiveness of anti-corruption agencies in Pakistan and the ability of the powerful and well-connected to evade accountability.


It is important to note that these allegations and investigations have not been proven and the Ellahi family has denied any wrongdoing. However, the fact that these scandals and controversies have been reported in the media and investigated by government agencies suggests that there may be some truth to the allegations.


The lack of accountability for Pervaiz Ellahi and his son Monis Ellahi is a worrying trend in Pakistan. The country has a long history of corruption and political corruption is a major problem. The failure of anti-corruption agencies to bring powerful and well-connected individuals to justice undermines the rule of law and erodes public trust in the government.


To address this problem, it is crucial for anti-corruption agencies to be given the necessary resources and support to investigate and prosecute corruption cases. Additionally, there needs to be a greater emphasis on transparency and accountability in government, particularly in the areas of land allocation and public procurement.

PAKISTAN'S ANOTHER VICTORY AGAINST INDIA

 Another testimony of Pakistan's historic success against India has come to light. The reputable American magazine New York Times has written that Pakistan forced India to kneel on its own soil through Operation Banyan-e-Marsoos in the recent border tension.
